Ahnaf completed his LL.B. (Hons.) from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 2013 and was called to the Bar of England & Wales from the Hon’ble Society of Lincoln’s Inn, UK in 2014. He is enrolled as an Advocate at the Bangladesh Bar Council and a member of the Dhaka Bar Association.
Ahnaf joined The Legal Circle in early 2017. Before joining The Legal Circle, Ahnaf trained with a leading law firm in Bangladesh. In recent years, Ahnaf has worked as Bangladesh counsel for a range of local and international clients, providing legal opinions in contentious and non-contentious matters in areas including arbitration, aviation, corporate & commercial (including m&a), constitutional & administrative, employment, securities, energy & infrastructure, taxation and telecommunications laws.
Ahnaf has experience in structuring foreign direct investments, divestments, conducting due-diligence on target companies for cross-border acquisitions, advising on international financing transactions, drafting and perfecting security documents in such transactions as well as structuring and reviewing relevant agreements.
In representing a number of leading companies, Ahnaf has routinely assisted senior counsel in drafting pleadings in arbitration proceedings and in cases before the High Court Division and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He also acts as counsel in commercial disputes before the Courts of District and Sessions Judge, Dhaka. A number of such disputes were successfully negotiated to reach amicable settlements between the parties involved.
